Overview

If the DNS server is not responding, you can try the following methods to troubleshoot and resolve the issue step by step.

First, confirm whether your network connection is stable. Sometimes, a minor network problem can prevent DNS from working properly. Try restarting your router, or switch to another available network connection method, such as switching from Wi-Fi to a wired connection, and see if the problem is resolved.

If the network connection is fine, the next step is to try flushing the DNS cache. On Windows, press Win+R, type "cmd" to open the Command Prompt, and then enter "ipconfig /flushdns" to clear the DNS cache. This can sometimes resolve DNS resolution issues.

If flushing the cache does not work, consider changing your DNS server. There are many reliable public DNS servers available, such as Google's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, or Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1. You can change the DNS server IP address in your network settings to one of these public DNS servers and see if that solves the problem.

Sometimes, a firewall or security software may block DNS server responses. Therefore, you can also try temporarily disabling these programs to see if the connection works normally. Of course, before disabling them, make sure you understand their functions and the potential risks.

If you are using a router to connect to the internet, it is also necessary to check the router settings. Make sure the router's DNS settings are correct; incorrect settings can sometimes cause the DNS server not responding issue.

If none of the above methods solve the problem, your device's network configuration may be the issue. In that case, try restarting your device to see if it returns to normal.

If you have tried all the above methods and the problem still persists, I suggest contacting your network service provider or system administrator. They may be able to provide more professional help and support. After all, they are more familiar with your network environment and device configuration, and are better equipped to help you resolve the issue.
