Overview

AIGC stands for AI-Generated Content. In simple terms, it means letting AI help you create — whether it's text, images, audio, or video. As long as you clearly describe what you need, AIGC can quickly generate new content without you having to start from zero.

Take some of the most common examples: using ChatGPT to draft an event plan outline — type in "company anniversary event, budget of 50,000 RMB, targeting young people," and within seconds you get three plan options. Using Midjourney to create an illustration — type "a cat café under the starry sky, watercolor style," and in a few minutes you have a finished piece. These "AI helping you create new content" scenarios are all AIGC at work.

For instance, when you use AI to write a travel vlog script: input "3-day Chengdu trip, focusing on food and history, lively style," the AI draws from existing Chengdu travel guides and script templates it has learned, breaks down the request, and generates a script with attraction sequence and narration lines, even adding food-related references along the way. The whole process is ten times faster than doing the research yourself.

Don't think AIGC is only used in professional fields — it's hiding in plain sight in everyday life. Here are three categories for a quick overview:

Text-based "ghostwriters":
ChatGPT / Tongyi Qianwen: write emails, polish resumes, craft social media posts, even solve math problems — a true "all-purpose copy assistant."
AI editors on WeChat public accounts: generate draft articles from a topic, optimize headlines, add hashtags — great for content creators.

Image-based "artists":
Midjourney / Stable Diffusion: designers use them for concept sketches, everyday users create avatars — just enter keywords and switch styles.
AI photo editing on phones: features like "remove bystanders" on OPPO or "AI expand" on Xingtu are essentially AIGC generating background content to fill gaps — much easier than manual editing.

Lifestyle "helpers":
AI customer service: those instant replies on e-commerce platforms are often generated by AIGC, capable of handling thousands of inquiries at once.
AI travel planners: input "5-day budget 5,000 RMB, love good food," and it generates a full itinerary with accommodations, adjustable in real time.

One more thing: AIGC is different from regular AI. AI translation is about "converting languages," AI facial recognition is about "identifying identities," but AIGC is about "creating something new." For example, AI translation simply converts Chinese to English, but AIGC can write an original English poem based on the theme "summer by the sea." That's the fundamental distinction.
