Overview

VPS stands for Virtual Private Server. In simple terms, it's a server solution that balances practicality and cost-effectiveness, making it a great fit for most average users and small-scale needs. Essentially, it takes a powerful physical server and divides it into multiple independent "mini-servers" using virtualization technology. Each of these mini-servers has its own IP address, operating system, memory, storage, and bandwidth — and they're completely isolated from each other, so they don't interfere with one another.

Think of VPS as a "clone" of a physical server: like a big villa that's been divided into several independent apartments. Each apartment has its own door number, furniture, and utilities. Residents live without disturbing each other and manage their own space. VPS is exactly that kind of "apartment," while the physical server is the villa itself.

Compared to the computers we use daily, the biggest differences with VPS are that it's "always online" and "remotely accessible." When you turn off your personal computer, no one can access it over the internet. But a VPS is housed in a professional data center, running 24/7 with uninterrupted network connectivity. No matter where you are, as long as you have an internet connection, you can remotely connect to it and operate it — essentially a "remote computer that never shuts down."
