The Associated Press is a not-for-profit news cooperative that has been gathering and distributing news since 1846. Its website offers breaking news, analysis, and investigative reporting from around the world. Because AP stories are written to be republished by thousands of newspapers and broadcasters, the writing tends to be straightforward and focused on facts rather than opinion. You get the essentials quickly, which is useful when a story is developing.

The site covers politics, business, science, health, and sports, with photo and video galleries alongside text articles. It's free to read, and there's a mobile app for notifications. If you want a news source that sticks to reporting rather than commentary, AP is one of the most reliable options available. Many other outlets rely on it, so reading it directly can sometimes get you the information before it's been spun elsewhere.
