Rate Your Music is a community-built music Database where users catalog, rate, and review albums. It has a detailed genre taxonomy that lets you filter by subgenre, year, country, and mood, which makes it useful for discovering music in specific niches. The site also generates charts based on user ratings, and because the user base is knowledgeable and opinionated, those charts often surface things you won't find on mainstream streaming services.

The community is active in the comments and forums, and the site has been running for over two decades. It's not the fastest or most polished website, but the depth of the database is hard to match. If you want to explore music beyond what algorithms recommend, Rate Your Music is one of the best places to do it.
