Overview
Qiniu Cloud is a leading cloud storage and cdn service provider. It offers new users 10GB of free CDN traffic and 10GB of free object storage space per month, and there is no need to keep a logo at the bottom of your website—this is very friendly to individual webmasters and developers.
This article introduces how to configure Qiniu Cloud CDN from scratch, and how to integrate it with website programs such as WordPress.
I. What Are the Advantages of Qiniu Cloud CDN?
Qiniu Cloud's CDN product is called "Fusion CDN." It integrates node resources from multiple cloud vendors, including China Telecom, China Unicom, China Mobile, and small and medium-sized carriers. Node coverage is broad, and overseas nodes are also supported.
Free quota: 10GB of HTTP/HTTPS traffic + 10GB of storage space per month, which is basically enough for a personal blog. After exceeding the quota, you pay as you go, at about 0.29 CNY/GB.
Mirror Storage: This is a special feature of Qiniu Cloud. After configuration, the CDN automatically pulls files from your origin and caches them, with no need to upload manually—very convenient.
Image processing: Built-in image cropping, compression, watermarking, format conversion, and other functions, with no extra development required.
II. Register for Qiniu Cloud and Complete Real-Name Verification
Visit the Qiniu Cloud official website and click "Register" in the upper right corner. Fill in your phone number, verification code, and set a password. After registration, you need to complete real-name verification (individual or enterprise). Upload a photo of your ID card and complete face recognition; it usually passes in a few minutes.
Real-name verification is required before you can use CDN services.
III. Create a Storage Space (Object Storage)
Log in to the Qiniu Cloud console, find "Object Storage" (Kodo) in the left menu, and click "Create Bucket."
Fill in the bucket name (e.g., baike300), and choose the storage region closest to you (e.g., East China). For access control, choose "Public," because the CDN needs to read files.
After creation, your storage space will have a test domain (in the format xxx.clouddn.com). The test domain is valid for 30 days. For formal use, it is recommended to bind your own filed domain.
IV. Bind a Custom Domain and Configure CDN
In the console, find "Fusion CDN" and click "Add Domain."
Accelerated domain: Enter the domain you want to use, such as static.baike300.com (it must be a domain that has completed ICP filing).
Origin configuration: Choose "Origin Domain" and enter the test domain of the storage space you just created, or enter your origin IP/domain.
CDN configuration: Choose the acceleration type according to your website type (small files, large files, video). For an ordinary website, choose "Small File Acceleration."
After adding the domain, Qiniu Cloud will give you a CNAME address. Go to your domain DNS management backend (Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, Cloudflare, etc.), add a CNAME record, and point the accelerated domain to Qiniu Cloud's CNAME address.
V. Configure HTTPS Certificate
If your website uses HTTPS, you need to upload an SSL certificate in Qiniu Cloud CDN. Qiniu Cloud also provides free SSL certificate applications, which can be applied for in the "SSL Certificates" menu.
After successful upload or application, enable HTTPS acceleration in the domain configuration. It is recommended to check "Force Redirect" so that HTTP requests automatically redirect to HTTPS.
VI. Integrating Qiniu Cloud with WordPress
If you use WordPress, you can install the "WPQINIU" or "Qiniu Cloud Object Storage" plugin to automatically upload website images to Qiniu Cloud storage and accelerate access through CDN.
Plugin setup steps:
- In the WordPress backend, search for "WPQINIU" and install it.
- Fill in the AccessKey and SecretKey (obtained from "Key Management" in the Qiniu Cloud console).
- Fill in the bucket name and domain (your accelerated domain).
- Check "Enable CDN acceleration" and save the settings.
After setup, newly uploaded images will be automatically pushed to Qiniu Cloud, and the website frontend will load images through CDN. Existing images can be uploaded using the plugin's "Batch Sync" feature.
VII. Cache Configuration Recommendations
In the Qiniu Cloud CDN console, you can set cache rules. It is recommended to cache static files such as images, CSS, and JS for 30 days; cache HTML files for 1 day or not at all.
Qiniu Cloud also supports smart compression (Gzip/Brotli), which can reduce file size and improve loading speed. It is recommended to enable it.
VIII. Pricing Explanation
Qiniu Cloud CDN is billed by traffic, with tiered pricing:
- 0–1TB: 0.29 CNY/GB
- 1–10TB: 0.27 CNY/GB
- Above 10TB: 0.25 CNY/GB
HTTPS request fee: 0.05 CNY per 10,000 requests. Billing only starts after the 10GB free traffic per month is exceeded.
For a personal blog, 10GB of free traffic is usually enough. If traffic is large, it is more cost-effective to purchase a traffic package.
IX. Points to Note
When using Qiniu Cloud CDN, there are a few points to note:
- The accelerated domain must have completed ICP filing, otherwise the CDN cannot be used.
- The test domain is valid for 30 days. Please bind your own domain before formal use.
- Free traffic only covers HTTP/HTTPS traffic and does not include other protocols.
- If the website is updated frequently, remember to manually refresh the CDN cache, otherwise users may see old content.
