Skillshare hosts thousands of classes in illustration, design, photography, animation, writing, and creative business. Classes are typically project-based: you watch lessons and then complete an assignment that other students can review. Instructors are working professionals rather than academics, and the production quality is generally good.

The subscription model gives unlimited access to the entire catalog. It is not the place for deep technical courses in computer science, but for creative skills and practical design work it is a strong option. Many classes are short enough to finish in an afternoon, which makes it easy to explore a topic before committing to a longer course. New members often get a free trial period.
